Nutritional Properties and Benefits of Lion's Mane

In a new study conducted by a team of scientists, researchers identified compounds in the Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) that could boost nerve growth and enhance memory. Produces erinacines and hericiones: strong nerve growth factor stimulators.

Lion's Mane has been also shown to increase energy due to its naturally occurring antioxidants and polysaccharides. Lion's Mane may support stable energy levels via its effect on normal blood sugar levels.

Lion's Mane helps rebuild myelin, increase cognitive abilities, repair neurological trauma/degeneration, and may mitigate Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Anticancer (gastric, stomach, liver), antibacterial, anti-Candida, anti-inflammatory. (Reff: Peter McCoy)

"Laboratory tests measured the neurotrophic effects of compounds isolated from Hericium erinaceus on cultured brain cells, and surprisingly we found that the active compounds promote neuron projections, extending and connecting to other neurons," Meunier says.
"Using super-resolution microscopy, we found the mushroom extract and its active components largely increase the size of growth cones," he adds, "which are particularly important for brain cells to sense their environment and establish new connections with other neurons in the brain."
